Here are a few tales that I am going to tell all of you about my niece and me...the picture you see at the top is one that was taken not long ago, when she was visiting back in Kentucky (she lives in Nevada). She is my sweet friend as well as my niece and sister- in- CHRIST. So here goes a few little tales about when we were little!
She was born in Sept. 1952. I was four years old when she came "squalling into my world". I say that, because up til then I had my sister, Jean (her mother) to myself! With Mother working such long hours and...it was left up to the older kids to watch the younger ones. The age difference was quite a big-gap. My older brother, Nick, was 16 years older than me, and Jean was 13 years older, I think...so when she was 16 she got married and left home. Well, I cried and pined my little heart out for her, until Mother called the doctor (I was actually "pining away" for her, as they used to call it)...and then she got hold of Jean and she came home real quick and brought me a set of little duckies...the Mama duck and three baby duckies...you pulled them by the string...they had wheels and all "quacked" as they waddled behind. I got better, needless-to-say...*S*

...and she took me home with her for awhile...I remember the place it was at too..I see it in my mind..the street was not busy and there were steps leading down the sidewalk into the little house..it was on the left side of the street. One day she brought home this little "bundle of something" and it was making all kinds of squeaky little sounds! I thought it was a puppy or something...then when Mother brought me down another time to visit her, awhile later, I saw that "little thing" in a little white bassinette and it was "screaming and red" all over! I was amazed at how it screamed so loud and so often (all the time) it seemed!
When Jean and Mother were in the kitchen drinking coffee...I "took a peek" at this little thing and it was asleep...so I looked around and no one was there...so I put my little hand in the bed and touched its leg! It was so skinny! Then I remember looking to see if anyone saw me, and they weren't watching, so I touched it again, and this time I put its little flesh between my forefinger and thumb and "squeezed". Boy did it scream! It scared the life out of me, and when Jean and Mother ran in to see what was wrong...I stood there innocently shrugging my shoulders and shaking my head. They got it quieted down and went back to what they were doing in the kitchen and I sneaked another peek at them...well, I did it again! It was amazing how loud that little thing could scream!
Honest guys, I didn't do it because I was being mean, I had been the "baby" for four years and loved by all who knew me ...*S*...and then this little thing came home one day with my sister, my (second-mommy) and usurped me from my throne! So you got to put yourself in my four year old minds place. "It" was my enemy! And then to know that I could make it "scream" for no reason...well, that just "made my day"! Any way they soon found out why all those "little red marks" were all over the baby, one day when Jean caught me, and she blistered my "bee-hind"..and that was the beginning of "all out war" between me and that little red thing!
It took me a long time to get to like her, but I got used to her...and I found out "it" had a name... "it" was called Terri...and from the time a few years later when I was Tarzan & she was Jane and we played silly games in the basement together...til the time I saw her when she was 14 in California and I was 18...well I have learned to love "that little thing" so very much and she is ever so dear to my heart today! How I thank GOD that HE put her into my life! Terri my darling niece, I love you with all my heart!
